Tampa police divers recovered the body of a 4-year-old girl who was thrown into the Hillsborough River on Thursday. The suspect then parked the vehicle on Rome Avenue just north of Aileen Street at which time, witnesses told police the suspect waded into the Hillsborough River with her child.
Authorities have not identified the woman but said they are trying to contact relatives.
"Witnessed observed her forcefully remove the child. her daughter was 4 years old", Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan said.
According to Dugan, the female suspect was walking a short distance from the scene when police located and arrested her.
Shakayla Denson, 26, was charged with first-degree felony murder, aggravated child abuse and grand theft auto charges, Tampa police said. "It's the craziness of the world that we live in at times".
Police allege Denson, 26, had just stolen a Nissan Altima from an auto fix shop.
A GoFundMe page that was created by Denson in October 2017 stated Je'Hyrah was diagnosed with autism, the report said.

Je'Hyrah Daniels was pronounced dead at the hospital.
